Landscaper

A landscaper designs and looks after outdoor spaces like gardens, parks, and schoolyards. They plan where to put plants, flowers, trees, and paths so that the area looks beautiful and is fun to use. Landscapers also make sure plants stay healthy by watering, weeding, and feeding them.

What tools do you use to do your job?

  • Shovel: to dig holes for planting seeds, flowers, and small trees
  • Rake: to smooth soil, spread mulch, and gather leaves
  • Lawn mower: to cut grass so it’s neat and even
  • Pruning shears: to trim branches, bushes, and dead leaves
  • Wheelbarrow: to carry soil, compost, rocks, and tools
  • Gloves and safety boots: to keep hands and feet safe while working

What makes a good landscaper?

A good landscaper loves being outside and cares for plants every day. They pay attention to small details like straight lines on a lawn or even spaces between plants. They stay safe by wearing the right gear and follow instructions carefully. Creativity helps them choose pretty plant colors and shapes that match each garden. Finally, they listen to what people want and work hard to make those ideas happen.

What do you do each day?

Each morning, a landscaper checks the weather and plans the day’s tasks. They might start by mowing lawns or trimming hedges. Next, they dig holes and plant new flowers or trees. During the day, they water plants, pull out weeds, and add mulch (a layer of wood chips or leaves) around plants to keep soil moist. Before leaving, they clean and put away their tools so everything is ready for tomorrow.
