Scaffolder

A scaffolder helps build strong, safe platforms and towers around buildings. These platforms are like giant metal ladders or frames that let builders and painters reach high places. Scaffolders make sure everything is safe so no one falls while working up high!

What tools do you use to do your job?

Scaffolders use special tools like:

  • Spanners (to tighten the metal parts)
  • Levels (to make sure everything is straight)
  • Measuring tapes (to get the right size)
  • Harnesses and helmets (to stay safe while working up high)

They also work with lots of metal poles, boards, and clips that all fit together like a big puzzle.

What makes a good Scaffolder?

A good scaffolder is:

  • Strong and brave (they need to climb and carry heavy things)
  • Careful (they always check everything is safe)
  • A team player (they work with others to build fast and safely)
  • Good at solving problems (sometimes the scaffolding needs to fit in tricky places)

What do you do each day?

In the morning, scaffolders put on their safety gear and look at a plan of what they need to build. Then, they carry the parts to the right spot and start building. They climb, lift, and connect pieces to make tall, strong platforms.

At lunchtime, they take a break (sometimes with a sandwich and a nice view from up high!). In the afternoon, they might finish the build or take down scaffolding that’s no longer needed.

Every day is a little different, but it’s always a team effort and full of building fun!
